Frequently asked questions.

Where do these AEDs & pads come from?

We work with multiple clients across the U.S. to source and secure truckloads of AEDs that have been recycled or discarded for a variety of reasons. Within those containers, we will also receive AED carrying cases and short-dated AED pads that are NEW & UNUSED - but don’t meet industry-related expiration requirements. Many hospital chains require 4 years remaining on the AED pads and must recycle them when they fall under that date.

What are Short-Dated Expiration Categories?

All unexpired pads will be classified by year followed by the letter “A” or “B”. Letter A represents the first 6 months of the year and letter B represents the last 6 months of the year.

A: January, February, March, April, May & June
B: July, August, September, October, November & December.

What counts as expired pads?

Any pad with an expiration date falling within 6 months of the current date is considered expired. For example, a pad that expires in May of 2016 is treated the same as a pad that expires 6 months in the future from the date you read this sentence.

Do you test the AEDs?

No. The majority of the AEDs we receive are in working condition and need very little service. Sometimes, all they need is a new battery. However, we do not have the ability to test or service these AEDs, and are sold as recycled material for parts and repair ONLY.
